In this tutorial, you will learn how to use Cleardox as a counter party when invited to work on a legal binder. Discover how to collaborate on annotations and comment on content
How to Work in Cleardox When Invited by an Opposing Party
In Cleardox, it is possible for parties and opposing parties to collaborate on annotations and comment on content when creating a legal binder. This eliminates the need for parties to compile, exchange, and unpack large document packages when working together on.
When you are invited to a case in Cleardox, you will receive a follow-up email with a link to the case.
As an opposing party invited to work on a case in Cleardox, you have the following options:
- You can get an overview of the entire document collection in the binder.
- You can comment on the content, such as whether pages or attachments should be deleted.
- You can annotate content.
How to Comment on Content
By default, you will be in comment mode and ready to comment when you are invited into Cleardox. To be in comment mode, the dropdown menu at the top should be set to "Comment".
You can then comment in two ways:
- By clicking the mouse at any location in the document.
- By highlighting some text directly in the document and commenting on it.
All comments are collected in chronological order in the comment field.
How to Annotate
In addition to commenting on content, you also have the option to annotate in the legal binder.
Note: The annotation color has been chosen by your counterpart when they invited you. If you want to annotate in a different color, the counterpart must do so by resending an invitation to the case.
To annotate, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the dropdown menu at the top center of the window and select "Legal Binder".
- You can now annotate in three ways:
- Highlight a text area: Annotations will automatically be placed vertically on the right side. If the counterpart has chosen "book layout", annotations will be alternately placed on the right and left.
- Highlight an area: Annotations will automatically be placed vertically on the right side unless a book layout is selected.
- Manual annotation: In the toolbar, there is also an option for manual annotation, allowing you to place an annotation anywhere in the document. This can be useful for documents in article form or with figures. The annotation will still be placed vertically.
The highlighted area next to the text will disappear in the final version.
If you want to remove a annotation, simply click on the area or the annotation and select the cross.
